Ophthalmology
The Ophthalmology Department provides an ophthalmic outpatient service, an inpatient consultation service, and a Day Surgery Service for different types of ophthalmic procedures. Specialist interest and services within the department include cataract surgery, Neuro- ophthalmology, Strabismus, Corneal Disease, Lacrimal Surgery, Oculoplastics and Orbital Disease management.
About
The Ophthalmology multidisciplinary team consists of 1 full time CNS, 2 Ophthalmic Surgeons, 1 Community Ophthalmic Physician, 4 Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors (NCHDs – rotating with the Mater Misericordia University Hospital), 2 Orthoptists, and 3.5 administrative staff.
Several specialist clinics are delivered by the department including Neuro-ophthalmology, Oculoplastic , Orbital disease, Glaucoma, Orthoptic, ocular toxicity , Stable Pituitary and Diagnostics investigations including visual field testing, fundal photography and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT).
