Operating Theatres

The Operating Department consists of 13 theatre suites with attached anaesthetic rooms. There is a designated reception area and a recovery room. 

An Assistant Director of Nursing and Clinical Nurse Manager III manages the department. Each area has a Clinical Nurse Manager who leads the nursing team. Nurses provide care to patients undergoing anaesthetic and a vast array of surgical procedures.  

The Department is keen to promote nurses ongoing professional development. The Clinical Practice Support Nurse (CPSN) assists nurses of to develop professionally and acts as a resource to all levels of nursing staff.

A Post Graduate Diploma in Operating Department Nursing is available to nursing staff in conjunction with Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI).  The Education Co-ordinator is involved in developing and facilitating this course.
