Attending your dermatology appointment

When attending your dermatology appointment at Beaumont Hospital, we aim to make your visit as smooth and informative as possible. Please arrive on time and check in at the Dermatology Department reception. We endeavour to keep to appointment times but please be aware there may be delays.

  • It is important to bring a full, up-to-date list of your medications, including any creams, ointments, or over-the-counter treatments you are currently using. This helps your dermatologist understand your current treatment plan and avoid potential interactions.
  • If you require an interpreter, please let the department know in advance so appropriate arrangements can be made to support clear communication during your consultation.
  • If you have a power of attorney for health and welfare decisions, we kindly ask that you bring them with you to the appointment.
  • Your consultation may involve a full skin examination, which allows the dermatologist to assess not only the specific concern that brought you to clinic, but also check for any other issues that may require attention. You will be offered privacy to change, and your comfort and dignity will be prioritised at all times.
  • Beaumont Hospital is a teaching hospital, and we are proud to train the next generation of doctors. Medical students may be present during your consultation; however, you are free to let us know if you prefer not to have students present.
  • You may be offered a minor surgical procedure on the day of your appointment if clinically appropriate; this will be fully explained to you beforehand, and please be aware that your appointment may take longer as a result.
