The General Support Services Division is responsible and accountable for the organisation, management and day to day operations of the General Services functions throughout the hospital to support our clinical staff to deliver a quality service to patients, staff and visitors and is the cornerstone of the service provided. The department provides strategic and operational direction for these services by planning, implementing managing and monitoring all services, ensuring compliance with best practice and National Standards, and providing a range of non-clinical support services Hospital wide as listed above. The hospital switchboard operates on a 24/7 basis handling all incoming and outgoing calls. The operators can be the first point of contact that patients, visitors, relatives and other hospitals engage with when communicating with the hospital by phone.
We would encourage service users to use the wards/ departments listing on the hospital website for each departments /wards direct contact telephone numbers.
We operate a direct dial system to departments which allows the switch to be by-passed and the numbers are advertised on the hospital website to assist patients and members of the public make direct contact with departments. A voice-mail function is available for use by all departments when land-lines are unmanned.
The staff management of this department is managed by the General Services Department and the Systems and Equipment / Infrastructure continues to be managed by the ICT Department.
Beaumont Hospital operates an in-house security service who provide a security service on a 24 hour basis to provide a safe and secure environment throughout Beaumont Hospital Campus for all its patients, visitors and staff attending the Hospital. There is a CCTV System in operation throughout the hospital site both internally and externally as well as an Access Control System.
The security office is located on the main corridor of the hospital near the hospital’s front entrance.
The security department are responsible for the management of car parking on the hospital site. Parking for patients and visitors is provided in the multi-storey car park including a number of designated disabled parking spaces and is subject to charges. The public card park is operated by Q-Park. Clamping is in operation on a 24/7 basis and any queries can be raised with the Security Department who can assist.
The Portering Department at Beaumont Hospital is dedicated to providing essential support services 24/7. Our skilled team ensures the safe and efficient transport of patients, equipment, and supplies throughout the facility. By prioritizing patient comfort and collaboration with clinical staff, we play a vital role in enhancing overall hospital operations and patient care experiences.
The department operates 24 hours a day, ensuring seamless patient transport and logistical support within the hospital. Our dedicated team is committed to maintaining efficiency and safety, facilitating the movement of patients, equipment, and supplies. With a focus on patient care and comfort, they play a crucial role in the hospital’s operations to include the provision of wheelchairs to patients.
The team is equipped with trained professionals who utilize specialized equipment to ensure safe and timely transport. We adhere to strict health and safety protocols, minimizing risks during patient handling. Our team also engages in continuous training and improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery, ensuring we meet the evolving needs of the hospital and its patients.
Our team are crucial for patient transport, equipment handling, and supply delivery within the hospital. Operating 24/7, the team ensures safety and efficiency, significantly contributing to patient care and supporting clinical staff in their daily operations.
The hospital has in place a hygiene services monitoring programme to ensure services are maintained in line with national standards. We welcome feedback on all services for patients and members of the public to include hygiene services of cleaning, laundry and waste management which is used to continually improve the experience of all using the services.
The General Services Department is responsible for the management of hygiene related services and contracts to include cleaning, laundry, waste management and sani-bin contract. The aim is to deliver a quality service to all patients, staff and visitors and is the cornerstone of the service provided, ensuring compliance with national standards, best practice and ensuring contracts are compliant with procurement arrangements.
These services are provided by outside contractors who are selected by competitive tendering. The current contact for our cleaning contract is Bidvest Noonan and Cannon Hygiene provide the Sani-Bin service. The current contractor for laundry is Celtic Linen. The contractor for the Healthcare Risk Waste is Stericycle and the current contractor for Healthcare Non Risk Waste is Thorntons.
The printing service works closely with other hospital departments to produces promotional work for internal and external functions such as Hand Hygiene, Health Promotions, and Sharp Awareness.
Chaplaincy has a very important role to play in the life of the hospital. The Chaplaincy Department operates on an interdenominational basis and is staffed accordingly. The Department provides an invaluable multi- denominational pastoral service to our patients, relatives and staff.
A Roman Catholic chaplain is on site on a 24 hour basis and we have Chaplains from many other faiths attend the hospital as required to include Church of Ireland, Church of England, Episcopalian Church of Scotland, Methodist Church, Presbyterian Church, Church of Scotland.
The interdenominational ministry provides a professional care service carried on by professionals both ordained and lay, qualified in theology and in clinical pastoral education accredited by the health care hospital chaplaincy board. Patients and staff are encouraged to contact our chaplaincy department who can contact outside leaders of other faiths not mentioned above.
The Hospital Chapel is inter-denominational. This means that patients of all faiths are very welcome to visit. The Chapel is open 24 hours a day for quite reflection and Mass is celebrated at the following times in Beaumont Hospital
